Neutron Spectra for Low Energy Quasi-Mono-energetic p+Li Reaction
nte-carlo ucleon transport
ode (MONC) for nucleon transport is extended for below
20MeV proton transport using ENDF data. It is used to simulate p+Li
reaction upto 20MeV proton energies and produced neutron spectra are reported
here. The simulated results are compared with calculated values from other
available codes like PINO, EPEN, SimLiT codes and experimental data. The
spectra reported here can be used to get the neutron cross-section for this
quasi-mono-energetic neutron reaction and will help to subtract the low energy
contribution.Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2008.1150
A study of accelerator driven sub critical system - material using the CASCADE code
In the existing situation of experimental data required for design and modeling of ADS and
similar other applications, development and benchmarking of the simulation codes for providing
reliable data has become essential. Amongst the intra nuclear cascade codes, CASCADE code
which has been validated for the neutron production in proton collision with the high Z materials
in the past, has been used to study nuclear behavior of some of the prominent ADS materials
like, Th, U, Pb, Bi, W, Fe, Cr and Al in respect of reaction and production cross sections of
isotopes and neutrons in a wide range of energy, 11 MeV to several GeV. Emphasis has been
laid on the data of cross sections of (n, xn) reactions. It is found that their role is definite and
effective in deciding fuel combinations. The code provides neutron cross section data which
shows agreement with the existing experimental data and stresses need of further validation
using precision data from the accelerators.

Insights into the Nature of Self‐Extinguishing External Donors for Ziegler-Natta Catalysis: A Combined Experimental and DFT Study
Developing donors for Ziegler‐Natta (ZN) catalysis to control the polymerization reaction and produce polymers with desirable properties has always been challenging due to the multi‐component nature of the catalytic systems. Here, we have developed a new synthetic protocol for making two external donors, D₁ (2,2,2‐trifluoroethyl myristate) and D₂ (2,2,2‐trifluoroethyl palmitate) that show self‐extinguishing properties, followed by a systematic DFT study to understand this peculiar property of these donors. D₁ and D₂ can undergo parallel reactions with aluminum and titanium species present in the system to produce ketones and aldehydes, which are poisons for ZN catalytic systems, thus explaining their self‐extinguishing nature. The non‐covalent interaction between the long alkyl chain of the donors with the surface plays a vital role in determining the donors′ self‐extinguishing nature. There is a significant thermodynamic preference for the binding of the donor with the longer alkyl chain at the titanium center. The current work, therefore, provides interesting insights into how self‐extinguishing donors function in ZN catalytic systems
Dead Bryde's whale washed ashore at Veraval, Gujarat
Bryde’s Whale (Balaenoptera edeni Anderson,
1879) measuring 10.4 m in length and weighing
about 7 tons was found washed ashore on the beach
of Veraval on 4th august 2017. Locally called as
“Machchh” it was found in dead condition with small
injuries in the caudal peduncle and genital region.
With the intervention and supervision of forest
officials, it was towed ashore and a veterinary
officer conducted post-mortem after which it was
buried on the shore. Occurrenc
Cross-sections for nuclide production in 56Fe target irradiated by 300, 500,750, 1000, 1500, and 2600 MeV protons compared with data on hydrogen target irradiation by 300, 500, 750, 1000, and 1500 MeV/nucleon 56Fe ions
Cross-sections for radioactive nuclide production in 56Fe(p,x) reactions at
300, 500, 750, 1000, 1500, and 2600 MeV were measured using the ITEP U-10
proton accelerator. In total, 221 independent and cumulative yields of products
of half-lives from 6.6 min to 312 days have been obtained via the
direct-spectrometry method. The measured data have been compared with the
experimental data obtained elsewhere by the direct and inverse kinematics
methods and with calculations by 15 codes, namely: MCNPX (INCL, CEM2k, BERTINI,
ISABEL), LAHET (BERTINI, ISABEL), CEM03 (.01, .G1, .S1), LAQGSM03 (.01, .G1,
>.S1), CASCADE-2004, LAHETO, and BRIEFF. Most of our data are in a good
agreement with the inverse kinematics results and disprove the results of some
earlier activation measurements that were quite different from the inverse
kinematics measurements. The most significant calculation-to-experiment
differences are observed in the yields of the A<30 light nuclei, indicating
that further improvements in nuclear reaction models are needed, and pointing
out as well to a necessity of more complete measurements of such reactions.Comment: 53 pages, 9 figures, 6 tables, only pdf file, submitted to Phys. Rev.
